Global Perspectives on Sustainable Aviation Fuel: Emission Scenarios in the U.S., Europe, and Asia
John Smith
The United States, alongside Europe and China, is leading the production of sustaina-ble aviation fuel, with numbers rising annually. At the same time, the United States is one of the biggest producers, investors, and traders of fossil fuels, including oil. Addi-tionally, the United States has one of the busiest air transportation networks in the world. This paper aims to assess how greenhouse gas emissions from air traffic in the United States may change as sustainable aviation fuel becomes more integrated into the industry. Furthermore, the United States will be compared to other regions and countries, including Europe and Asia. Fuel consumption, usage of sustainable fuels per aviation company, and emission data (including carbon dioxide) for the regions con-sidered will be collected and analyzed. A baseline scenario will be compared to alter-native scenarios regarding the increased use of sustainable aviation fuels in the United States. The results will also be extended to the aviation industries of Europe and Asia. This analysis will contribute to a deeper understanding of the potential environmental benefits of the usage of sustainable aviation fuels and inform strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the aviation sector globally.
