The aim of the module is to understand the interactions realized in modern international economic environment in the energy sector. The access of states to energy resources is a matter of national security and economic growth as the availability of energy resources is a subject of intense economic rivalries. The understanding of the role that energy plays in modern international economic environment is undertaken in certain critical aspects. More specifically the following topics are examined: political economy of global energy resources, governance of energy resources, energy networks, regulation and deregulation of energy management, the liberalization of the energy sector, energy policy of the European Union and its relations with other countries (e.g. Russia), access to energy and economic growth of states, climate change and the prices of energy resources.
