Η Ελλάδα και ο κόσμος στον 20ό αιώνα

Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

Το μάθημα εξετάζει την πορεία της Ελλάδας στον 20ό αιώνα ως μέρος του διεθνούς συστήματος. Μελετάται η εσωτερική ανάπτυξη της χώρας και της εξωτερικής της πολιτικής ως συνισταμένης εσωτερικών αναγκών και εξωτερικών προσανατολισμών. Ιδιαίτερη έμφαση αποδίδεται στην διαρκή προσπάθεια της Ελλάδας να εναρμονίζεται με τις διεθνείς εξελίξεις ως μέσο επιβίωσης και ενίσχυσης της στρατηγικής της αξίας, πολιτική που αναλύεται με παραδείγματα και αντι-παραδείγματα. Παράλληλα, εξετάζονται συστηματικά οι ανάγκες και οι πιέσεις της ελληνικής κοινωνίας, οι περιπέτειες της οικονομίας, η εφαπτομένη εσωτερικής-εξωτερικής πολιτικής, ο ρόλος του κράτους στην πολιτική, οικονομική και κοινωνική συγκρότηση, η στάση της Ελλάδας στις διεθνείς κρίσεις και τους μεγάλους πολέμους, όπως και τα συμφέροντα και ενδιαφέροντα των Μεγάλων Δυνάμεων στην περιοχή της.

Στο εσωτερικό πεδίο, οι διαλέξεις και τα σεμινάρια εστιάζουν σε θέματα όπως η Μεγάλη Ιδέα και το τέλος της, το αγροτικό ζήτημα, οι αλλαγές που επέφεραν η Μικρασιατική Καταστροφή και το προσφυγικό ρεύμα, οι κοινωνικές και πολιτικές διαστάσεις του διχασμού βενιζελικών-αντιβενιζελικών, η επίδραση του Κραχ του 1929, η Κατοχή και ο εμφύλιος, η μεταπολεμική αστικοποίηση και οικονομική μεταμόρφωση, οι διαιρέσεις και οι αποκλεισμοί, η επταετής δικτατορία, η Μεταπολίτευση, το πολιτικό και κομματικό σύστημα, η επενέργεια της ένταξης στην Ευρωπαϊκή Κοινότητα και η έκρηξη της ευημερίας. Στην εξωτερική σφαίρα εξετάζονται οι βασικοί προσανατολισμοί της χώρας σε σχέση με τις γειτονικές της χώρες και τις Μεγάλες Δυνάμεις ή Υπερδυνάμεις, η σχέση με διεθνείς οργανισμούς, τα μέσα προώθησης της ελληνικής άμυνας και ασφάλειας, οι κανόνες της ελληνικής εξωτερικής πολιτικής.

Σκοπός του μαθήματος είναι να εξοικειώσει τους φοιτητές με τη μελέτη της Ελλάδας ως μέρος του κόσμου στον 20ό αιώνα και ως παράγοντα των διεθνών σχέσεων που κλήθηκε να αντιμετωπίσει κρίσιμα διλήμματα εξωτερικής πολιτικής και να προσαρμόσει την εσωτερική της ανάπτυξη στα προτάγματα της διεθνούς πολιτικής. Αποσκοπεί, επίσης, να συμβάλει στην κατανόηση της χώρας ως ενεργητικού μοχλού εξελίξεων, πέρα από καθιερωμένα σχήματα ομφαλοσκόπησης.

Οι φοιτητές-τριες εκπαιδεύονται να συνδέουν την ελληνική με τη διεθνή ιστορία και πολιτική και να αναλύουν τις σύγχρονες εξελίξεις μέσα από μακροπρόθεσμα θεωρητικά σχήματα. Η χρήση διεθνούς βιβλιογραφίας και διαλογικής συζήτησης για την σχέση ιστορίας και διεθνών σχέσεων καλλιεργούν την ικανότητά τους να συνομιλούν με εκπροσώπους των πολιτικών, κοινωνικών και ανθρωπιστικών σπουδών από το εξωτερικό και να συνθέτουν την ελληνική εμπειρία με την εμπειρία άλλων λαών. Τελικός στόχος είναι η καλλιέργεια των κατάλληλων εργαλείων ανάλυσης, ώστε οι φοιτητές-τριες να κατανοούν μακροπρόθεσμα την σύγχρονη ελληνική και διεθνή πραγματικότητα και να προβαίνουν σε ορθές και εφαρμόσιμες λύσεις και αναλύσεις επί των τρεχουσών εξελίξεων.

Διδασκαλία: 3 ώρες εβδομαδιαίως, για 13 εβδομάδες, προσφερόμενο σε φοιτητέςς-τριες του Ε’ και Ζ’ εξαμήνου.

-Βαθμολόγηση:

Οι φοιτητές-τριες βαθμολογούνται με βάση:

Α) την επίδοσή τους στην ενδιάμεση γραπτή εξέταση (πρόοδο), η οποία πραγματοποιείται κατά τη διάρκεια του εξαμήνου (7-8^η εβδομάδα) στην ύλη που έχει διδαχθεί μέχρι τότε. Ο βαθμός της ενδιάμεσης εξέτασης αποτελεί το 20% του τελικού συνολικού βαθμού κάθε φοιτητή/φοιτήτριας.

Β) την τελική γραπτή εξέταση στο μάθημα που περιλαμβάνει το σύνολο της ύλης που έχει οριστεί από την αρχή του εξαμήνου. Ο βαθμός της τελικής εξέτασης αποτελεί το 80% του τελικού βαθμού κάθε φοιτητή/φοιτήτριας.

Γ) Στο μάθημα δίνεται η δυνατότητα να γραφτεί μία ερευνητική εργασία έκτασης 4.000 λέξεων συμπ. βιβλιογραφίας που συνυπολογίζεται στο 50% του του τελικού βαθμού. Η εργασία δεν είναι απαλλακτική και το υπόλοιπο 50% προέρχεται από την επίδοση στην τελική εξέταση. Η εργασία θεωρείται ολοκληρωμένη όταν έχει γίνει και προφορική παρουσίαση, διαφορετικά δεν υπολογίζεται.

Οι φοιτητές-τριες που θα εκπονήσουν και θα παρουσιάσουν προφορικά την εργασία τους απαλλάσσονται από την «πρόοδο» και δεν μπορούν να υπολογιστούν και στις δύο διαδικασίες.

Τα θέματα των εργασιών δίνονται σε χωριστό έντυπο και μπορούν να εμπλουτιστούν με προτάσεις των φοιτητών-τριών.

The course examines Greece’s journey in the 20th century as part of the international system. There are studied the country's internal growth and foreign policy as a component of domestic needs and external orientations. Particular emphasis is placed on Greece's constant effort to harmonize with international developments as a means of survival and strengthening its strategic value, a policy that is analyzed with paradigms and counter-paradigms. In parallel, they are examined systematically the needs and pressures of Greek society, economy’s adventures, the tangential domestic-foreign policy, state’s role in the political, economic and social structure, Greece's attitude to international crises and major wars, as well as the interests and matters of the Great Powers in its region.

In the domestic field, lectures and seminars focus on topics such as the Great Idea and its end, the agricultural question, the changes by the Asia Minor Catastrophe and refugees flows, the social and political dimensions of the Venizelist/anti-Venizelist division, the impact of the Crash of 1929, the Occupation and the Civil War, post-war urbanization and economic transformation, the divisions and exclusions, the seven-year dictatorship, the Metapolitefsi, the political and party system, the effect of the European Community accession, and the explosion of prosperity. In the international sphere, there are examined the main orientations of the country in relation to its neighboring countries and the Great Powers or Superpowers, the relationship with international organizations, the means of promoting Greek defense and security, the rules of the Greek foreign policy.

The purpose of the course is to familiarize the students with the study of Greece as part of the world in the 20th century, and as a factor in international relations that was called upon to face critical foreign policy dilemmas, and to adapt its internal development to the projects of international politics. It also aims to contribute to the understanding of the country as an active driver of developments, beyond established navel-gazing schemes.

Students are trained to connect the Greek history and politics with the international one, and to analyze contemporary developments through long-term theoretical schemes. The use of international literature and dialogic teaching about the relationship between history and international relations cultivate their ability to converse with representatives of political, social and humanitarian studies from abroad and to synthesize the Greek experience with the experience of other peoples. The final goal is developing the appropriate analytical tools, so that students can understand the modern Greek and international reality in the long term and proceed to rational and applicable solutions and analyses of current developments.

Lectures: 3 hours per week, for 13 weeks, offered to students of the fifth and seventh semesters.

Rating:

Students are graded through:

Α) their performance in the intermediate written examination (progress), which takes place during the semester (7-8th week) in the syllabus that has been taught until that period. The grade of the intermediate examination is 20% of the final grade of each student.

Β) the final written exam of the course that includes the whole of the course material and has been defined since the beginning of the semester. The grade of the final exam constitutes 80% of the final grade of each student.

C) The course also gives the possibility of writing an essay of ca. 4,000 words whoch counts for 50% of the final grade. The other 50% comes from the final exam whoch is obligatory for all. The essay is considered finalized only if it is presented orally in class, otherwise it does not count and the student will be graded with 8 as excellent as he/she cannot take part in the mid-term exam when preparing an essay. The essays subjects are offered in a special document and can be enriched by student proposals.
