Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

The aim of this course is to provide Postgraduate students a basic understanding of environmental pollution. The course is based on the following teaching blocks : structure of the environment, basic pollutants and the activities/operations/services associated with these, different ways in which pollutants influence the environment and its composition and stability, pathways and mechanisms by which pollutants enter the environment as well as their fate, issues of public health, safety and mitigation options, Institutions responsible for environmental protection, as well as a number of topics pertinent to recent challenges facing humanity, such as climate change. This course provides the basis for courses in the following semesters, especially ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT.
