Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

The course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles and practices of Financial Accounting, with particular emphasis on their application in the shipping industry.

Students are introduced to the accounting cycle, preparing and interpreting financial statements, and accounting for key assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses. Particular attention is given to accounting issues relevant to shipping companies and to the application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP).

Through lectures, practical examples, and case studies, the course aims to develop students’ ability to understand, prepare, and critically evaluate financial accounting information and to appreciate its role in decision-making within the international shipping business environment.
