EUROPEAN POLICIES FOR TRANSPORT AND PORTS (Elective)

Description du cours

The aim of the course is to understand the broader impacts of European economic integration on transport,  the European Union (EU) with reference to the (maritime) transport sector, and ports in particular.

 

The topics covered include the principles and theories of

  • European integration, with emphasis on the structures and functioning of the EU 
  • European transport policies, 
  • European port policies,

allowing to understand the main impacts of the EU initiatives and developments on the competitiveness of transport systems.

 

The course is part of the activities of the Jean Monnet Chair in European Port Policy, hosted by the the Department of Maritime Studies, University of Piraeus (funded by the European Commission within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme).
